Croydon Harriers junior team enjoyed an emphatic win in the U.K. youth development league at Croydon Arena on Sunday ensuring their return to the Premier 2 division.
It was Croydon’s English Schools medalists who stole the show with some impressive displays. English Schools gold medalist Emmanuel Thomas triumphed in the pole vault with 4.50m, while sprinters Samir Williams (U20M 100m 10.9s), Romell Glave (U20M 400m 49.5s) and Tosin Salami (U20W 100m 12.5s).
Kayla Bowley ran a Grade A standard in the Under 17 women’s 200m winning in 25.5secs, and was backed up by Rhiannon Gayle (U17W 300m) and Glalys Da Costa.
In the throws, Reuben Vaughan (U17M Discus 45.92m) and Alex Wiafe (U20M Shot Putt 11.70m led the way.
Sonyce Archer enjoyed a double win in the Under 20 women’s long and triple jump and Verter Oppong-Kyei matched that feat in the men’s equivalent events
There were six relay wins to cap a triumphant day for Croydon.
