Surrey XC League M3, 12/1/19, Mitcham, Results and Report
Croydon Harriers’ men pulled themselves out of the relegation in the 2nd division of the Surrey cross country league for the first time this season after an improved performance at Mitcham Common. They’d finish 6th on the day.
Ben Savill enjoyed his highest finish in a Surrey League race, finishing runner-up in a quality field.
Alex Penfold (15th), Julian Forbes (23rd), David White (50th) and Pat Lucas (71st) provided solid support.
John Millington quickly followed in 73rd, while Alan Burn (85th) was 2nd M50 and moved into 2nd overall for his age group in the league standings. David Brown (113th), Kartik Iyer (120th) and Will Tupman (127th) completed the scoring ten.
A further eleven Croydon athletes provided support with the B team finishing 7th.
Glenn Barden, Jaran Finn, James Moore, Andy Del Nevo, Ernie Hann, Peter Howes, Keith Brown, Norman Hemming and Dave Warren were also on action. Hemming and Warren in fact raced here in 1989, it was their first racing return to the venue buy soma since then!

In the Under 13 ranks, Samuel Mowa was an impressive 10th. There was non-scoring support from Zachary Blair, Imran Salim, Ebuka Nkamuo, Jonathan Long and Douglas Aikman.
The afternoon was also a great opportunity to award some trophies we hadn’t awarded in December.
Father and son duo Keith and David Brown scooped an award each. Keith won the new Robin Dickson Memorial Cup for the Masters road league, honouring Robin’s incredible efforts over the years with us. David won the 20 mile trophy for his London Marathon in April.
Ben Savill scooped the parkrun and 10k track awards.
