Surrey Ladies, East Surrey, Croydon Champs and Mini Marathon Trials, 2nd March ’19, Results and Report
Croydon Harrier Stevie Lawrence enjoyed a runners-up finish at the Surrey Ladies League finale at Lloyd Park on Saturday.
She led the Croydon team home to sixth overall in the 2nd division race, encouraging signs perhaps ahead of the 2019/20 campaign which kicks off in October.
Under 20 Jessica Moore ensured a joint 1st finish in overall in her age group finishing 10th, with the returning Madeleine Armstrong five places further back. Laura Marshall (51st), Miriam De Souza (95th), Diana Phiri-Whitty (121st), Jenny Beecroft (143rd), Jules Del Nevo (183rd) and Carol Johnson (204th) completed the Croydon contingent.
In the girls races, Croydon had 15 representatives. with Antara Singh (U17 women, 15th), Kyra Sethna-McIntosh (U15 girls, 22nd) and Amber Bloomfield (u13 girls, 24th) the leading Harriers in each age group. The Under 15 girls would finish 4th in the team race on the day.
Overall end of season rankings – Ladies 20th (Div 2), Under 13 girls generic klonopin new york (10th), Under 15 girls (5th) and Under 17 women (9th).
In the East Surrey League men’s race, David White led the charge home in 2nd, with teammate Alex Penfold 3rd. Colleagues David Brown (13th) and Alan Burn (14th, 4th M50) ensured Croydon’s men won the team competition. Colin Oxlade was 1st M60 home, and a further nine Croydon athletes were in action.
Matt Maginn finished runners-up in the boy’s race, and picked up the club championship and a place in the Borough’s Mini Marathon team to boot. He was well supported by Joachim Bambury (Under 15 boys), Soul Hallums (5th) and Nick Marshall (7th) with the squad picking up the team honours in the process. Samuel Mowa won the Under 13 Boys club championship race.
