South of Thames 7.5 mile XC, 18th Dec ’21
Croydon Harriers closed their 2021 competition calendar with a solid turnout at the South of Thames cross-country championships at Beckenham Place Park.
Phil Symonds led the way with an impressive 23rd place finish in the 273-strong field. He completed the 7.4 mile course in 43 minutes 33 seconds. The rest of the scoring A team comprised of Ashley George (80th), Colm Porter (85th), David Brown (93rd), Jacob Armstrong-Plieth (101st) and James Moore (138th). The squad would place 10th out of 21 competing teams.
In the women’s race Madeleine Armstrong-Plieth (19th) and Laura Marshall (25th) both enjoyed strong outings.
The men’s 12 to score squad would finish fifth with Neil Aikman (134th), Daniel Denore (150th), Terry Lapins (155th), Joseph O’Keefe (157th) Andy Del Nevo (160th), Jaran Finn (163rd) and Keith Brown (187th) all featuring.
In the pick of the parkrun events, Isaac Flanagan (Lloyd Park) and Anna Corby (Horspath) were both fourth in their respective events.
