Six Croydon sprinters in action at the British Indoor Champs
Croydon Harrier Romell Glave won silver at the British Indoor Championships in Birmingham on Saturday.
The 26 year-old has run the fastest 60m time by a British sprinter this season after his success in Switzerland a few weeks ago, clocking 6.51secs. After successfully coming through two rounds of qualifying, it would only be reigning World Indoor Champion Jeremiah Azu who could stop the Croydon athlete in the finale.
Glave was one of six Croydon sprinters who were in action in Birmingham, with sprint hurdler Lia Bonsu finishing fifth in the women’s 60m hurdles finale for the second successive year.
England U20M 200m champion Farrell Fabusiwa made his debut in the competition reaching the semi-finals of the 60m, while Amari-Jai Anderson would match that feat.
In the women’s 60m event, Championship debutants Monae Winston-Westfield and Ninsola Adewale both kept the club flag flying in their respective heats.
