More Lee Valley action for Croydon athletes
Nine Croydon Harriers took part in the 2nd round of Lee Valley Open competitions last weekend.
With the club’s home training venue Croydon Arena still closed, the sprinters continue to defy the odds under difficult circumstances.
Over the 200m, Derek Kinlock sneaked under the 22-second barrier for a 21.97s clocking in a torrential downpour. It was the 2nd fastest time of the day out of 118 total competitors.
Nick Hamilton notched a huge PB in his 22.58s (13th overall).
Cheyanne Evans-Grey (24.71s) and Rachael Largie-Poleon (25.13s) both obtained lifetime bests to finish 4th and 2nd in their respective age group standings. Zoe Dake placed 7th in the Under 20 women’s standings in a best of 26.06s.
In the younger age groups, Ebuka Davids finished 12th out of 24 in the Under 17 men’s 200m in 23.66secs. In the Under 15 girl’s 200m Tochi Davids finished 8th (26.62s) with Lia Bonsu four places back (26.84s) in a field of 39 competitors.
On the field, Jack Ennis returned to high jump action, finishing third in 1.85m.
At the Battersea Invitational 3000m, James Hancock (9:04) and Alex Penfold (9:09) would finish 15th and 16th respectively out of 46 competitors.
