20 May 2025

Croydon’s men’s and women’s team kicked off their Southern League campaign on Saturday at Portsmouth. The squad finished fifth out of six clubs. With thanks to everyone who attended and volunteered.

In the women’s section, Evelyn Bossoko would triumph in the hammer with a 38m+ effort. Madeleine Armstrong-Pleith would secure a runner-up finish in the 3000m before winning the 1500m later in the afternoon. Lucy Cole would take the spoils in the women’s steeplechase backing up her earlier B wins in the 800m and 3000m. Kyra Sethna-McIntosh made a welcome return to action in the 800m finishing runner-up. D’Jhonay Young enjoyed a solid debut in the sprints while Ziona Ofori performed solidly in the 400m and 200m respectively.

There were some welcome returns to action in the men’s team including Zachary Blair (who travelled down from Birmingham just for this race), former European Junior Champion Derek Kinlock and Afam Obi-Adewole in his first Southern League competition since 2013.
