Lily B and Ebbisham wins for the young athletes squads
Croydon Harriers’ girls and boys’ teams kicked off their 2026 track and field campaigns with victories in their Lily B and Ebbisham Leagues respectively.
There were three event maximums in the sprints thanks to Ismae McLean-Afriye and Isabella Gyimah (U14 100m), Dougita Danso and Saray Destiny-Crosdale (U16 200m) and Shivelle Marshall and Kaiya Ashitey (U18 100m).
Malaika Trim notched a victory in the U14 800m in the highlight of the middle distance events.
Croydon would enjoy a clean sweep in the 4x100m across the age groups including the U12s thanks to Meroni Soetan, Natasha Anogwi, Grace Osei and Myia McLean.
On the field there were maximum points thanks to Kezia Wheeler and Saria Scott-Kurti (U16 javelin). Ebony Rose-Donkor and Gabby Reid (U16 long jump), Ada Amiaka (U18 triple jump and high jump) and Daniella Josephs (U14 high jump and long jump). Individual wins came courtesy of Atara Watson (U16 shot putt and discus) and Lordia Owusu (U18 shot putt).
Provisional result – Croydon 295, Guildford & Godalming 241, Hercules Wimbledon 170, Momentum 147, Reigate Priory 21, Dorking & Mole Valley 0.
The defending Ebbisham Boys League champions enjoyed most of their success in the sprints and hurdles. There were maximum points for Aaron Amponsah and Elisha Cort (U14 80m hurdles) as well as Anjelho Macabee-Rose and Cayden Campbell (U16 200m). There were further track wins courtesy of Micah St James (U16 100m hurdles), Trey Lindsay (U16 300m) and the U16 4x100m team.
Highlights from the field included Asa Joseph and Ching Yin Lai in the U16 Long Jump who secured a double win in the A and B events, while Joachim Okugbe topped the standings in the U16 Discus.
