23 Jul 2019

Croydon Harriers’ junior men’s 4x100m relay team set a new UK record for the event at the Anniversary Games at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium on Sunday.

The Under 20 men’s quartet of Micah Francis-Dwyer, Samir Williams, Derek Kinlock and Dylan Da Costa ran the time of 40.63secs – the fastest time ever run by a club in that age group.

There was also victory for the Under 15 girls team of Ninsola Adewale, Lia Bonsu, Gabriella Berkley-Agyepong and Chrissy Afriye Amponsah who clocked 48.67secs for a season’s best.

Two further club records came courtesy of runners-up finishes in the Under 13 girls (Kacey Johnson, Tochi Davids, Inessa-Renae Atta-Fynn and Gracelyn Kendrick) and Under 20 women age groups (Rhiannon Gayle, Davina Ansah, Noami Owolabi and Kayla Bowley).

Other competitors included the Under 15 boys (6th, 46.54secs) and Under 17 men (2nd, 42.11secs).

In the discus, Croydon Harrier Lawrence Okoye made his competitive return, breaking the 60m barrier to finish 9th.
