Croydon young athletes notch seven medals at the SEAA Champs
Croydon Harriers young athletes brought home seven medals from the South of England Athletics Championships at Chelmsford last weekend, including three golds.
In the Under 18 men’s 100m, Deandre Sharpe led a Croydon one-two taking the title in 10.90s with teammate James O’Flynn (11.06s) just behind. Jahmal Mceachrane also enjoyed success in the Under 16’s event, winning gold in 11.16s. On the field, Daniella Josephs topped the standing in the Under 14 girl’s high jump, thanks to a 1.50m clearance.
More medals came courtesy of the sprints, with Anjelho Macabee-Rose and Harry Wilks winning silver and bronze in the Under 16 boy’s 200m, while Kaiya Ashitey was runner-up in the Under 18 women’s 100m.
There were a further four fourth place finishes across the events with Joachim Okugbe (U16B discus), Ada Amiaka (U18W long jump), Ama Amiaka (U18W 100m hurdles) and Trey Lindsay (U16B 300m) all just narrowly missing out on the podium.
