Competition round-up, 7-8th Aug ’21
Croydon Harriers girls squad finished a respectable third at the Lily B League at Guildford in the six-club fixture.
There was plenty to celebrate in the sprints for Croydon athletes, with Ama and Ada Amiaka winning the Under 13 girl’s sprint hurdles, with Lia Bonsu and Chrissie Afriye Amponsah enjoying similar success in the Under 17 women’s category.
Ninsola Adewale and Christal Afriye Amponsah secured maximum points in the Under 17 women’s 100m.
On the field Christiana Kamdom Kemegne and Phoebe Broadhead would win the Under 17 women’s hammer, while Cerys Aboagye would triumph in the pole vault and shot putt in the same age group. Ursula Moore would enjoy a double win in the under 17 women’s high jump and javelin.
At the Eltham BMC races, James Hancock clocked 1:56.30 for the 800m for a new lifetime best, while Alex Penfold matched that feat in the 1500m running 4:01.07.
Amber Bloomfield finished 5th in her Under 15 girls 75m hurdles heat at Manchester.
20 Croydon Harriers took part in parkruns on Saturday, with Leanne Moore finishing 2nd at Lloyd Park in the women’s race. Patrick Lucas (7th, Bexley) and Will Lyon Tupman (9th, Millfield) also bagged top ten finishes.
