Competition round-up 11-12th Dec ’21

Croydon Harriers helped host the South of England inter-counties and masters cross-country championships this past Saturday at Lloyd Park.

Madeleine Armstrong-Plieth was fourth in the W40 race, competing the 6km course in 28:25. Partner Jacob Armstrong-Plieth was 33rd in the M45 category, while James Moore was 29th in the M50 race. 

In the Under 15 boy’s race, Kyron-Bailee Burke made his Surrey county debut and finished 68th out of 109 in a high quality field involving 18 Counties from the South of England. 

At the David Weir Leisure Centre, several Croydon athletes kicked off their indoor campaigns. Ethan Humphreys finished 2nd in the high jump with a 1.65m effort in the field of 12 competitors. Kyle Andrews ran 7.46secs for the 60m to finish 12th overall, while there was a lifetime best for Jack Harrington in 7.53secs to finish 2nd in the Under 17 men’s category. 

At the Telford 10K, Alex Penfold ran a new lifetime best of 32:55 and Glenn Barden ran a solid 37:24.

In parkrun action, Phil Symonds (Crystal Palace) and James Hancock (Lloyd Park) both bagged 1st place finishes, Anna Corby was runner-up in the women’s category at Lloyd Park in the pick of the ladies results.
