Croydon Harrier Phil Symonds enjoyed a top ten finish against the best Masters athletes in the UK, placing ten in the British Masters 5km road race at Battersea last Sunday. 

Symonds would break the 16 minute barrier for the first time, clocking 15:51 for a new lifetime to finish 10th in a field of 180 runners. 

Terry Lapins (112th, 20:02) and Colin Oxlade (12th M60, 20:12) would finish within three places of one another, while Keith Brown would finish 11th M65. 

Three Croydon Harrier young athletes took part in the English Schools Cup Finals in Leeds. Zoha Jetha enjoyed a solid run in the senior girls race finishing 20th, while Kat Warren was 52nd in a field of 128. Aida Palomares-Dominguez was 62nd in the junior girls race out of 151 competitors. 

In parkrun action, 25 Croydon Harriers were in action as far away as Germany (Jessica and James Moore) and Scotland (Marcos Palomares-Conde). Dom Nolan continued his good form, finishing 1st at Brighton in 14 minutes 50 seconds. Douglas Aikman was third at Bromley, while Alex Penfold was fourth at Tilgate.
