Comp round-up 10-11th Dec ’22

Croydon Harrier James Hancock rose to fifth in the all-time club rankings with a stellar run at the hotly-contested Telford 10K at the weekend. 

The Croydon 10K winner would clock 30 minutes and 8 seconds for a new lifetime best to finish 45th in a field of over 1000 runners. Alex Penfold would finish 238th in 34:01. 

At the South of England Inter County Championships in Oxford, Croydon duo Ernesto Kelly and Kyron-Bailee Burke would represent Surrey against the best athletes in the region. Kelly placed 31st in the Under 13 boys race. 

Five Croydon Harriers took part in the last ever Holly Run at Reigate. Katherina Warren finished fourth in the women’s short course race, and was the 1st Under 20 woman. In the men’s races, James Moore was 1st M50 in the long course race, backed by Terry Lapins in 22nd. Jaran Finn was runner-up in the short course competition. Ethan Cort was runner-up in the Under 15 boy’s race.

24 Croydon athletes were in parkrun action on Saturday morning. Zoha Jetha (Lloyd Park), Katherina Warren (Royal Bethlem) and Lucy Cole (Roundshaw Downs) all finished 1st in the women’s category at their events, all in lifetime bests. Phil Symonds and Douglas Aikman were 1st and 2nd at South Norwood.
