British Champs Bronze for Kinlock plus National XC Round-up, 25-26th Feb ’23
Croydon Harrier Derek Kinlock won bronze in the Men’s 200m at the British Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
The former European Junior Champion clocked 21.26s in his semi-final, his best time indoors over the distance.
At the National Cross-Country Championships in Chester, eleven Croydon Harriers would make the trip to take on the best in England.
Zoha Jetha would enjoy the club’s highest finish of the day, placing 38th in the Under 17 women’s race. She would equal the club record in the process. Holly Perks would place 154th in the 200-strong field in the same category.
Other age group leaders included Douglas Aikman (Under 20 men, 142nd) and Zephyr Walinets (Under 15 boys, 283rd).
In the women’s race, Madeleine Armstrong-Plieth finished 194th, while Rosa Brookes was 725th out of the near 800-strong field.
Colin Oxlade was 1097th in the men’s race, and was backed up by Jacob Armstrong-Plieth (1144th), Neil Aikman (1429th) and Richard Hooper (1469th).
32 Croydon Harriers took part in parkruns at the weekend, with Phil Symonds finishing 1st at South Norwood. Jessica Moore (Wöhrder See) and Katherina Warren (Royal Bethlem) both picked up 1sts in the women’s category, while Kyron-Bailee Burke was runner-up at Lloyd Park.
At the BUCS Champs, Kyra Sethna-McIntosh reached the semi-finals of the 400m, while Zoe and Esinam Dake took part in the 4x200m. Zachary Blair won the Mascots Race as Rory the Lion for the Uni of Birmingham.
