Borough report – 2025 TCS London Mini Marathon

Over thirty young athletes from the Borough of Croydon took part in the TCS London Mini Marathon on Saturday.

The 31-strong team, consisting of Croydon schoolchildren, as well as members of South London and Croydon Harriers, took on the 32 other London Boroughs over the 2.6km course as well as teams from across the devolved nations and different regions of England.

The Under 15 boys would secure the Borough’s highest finish of the day placing fifth overall. The team was led home by Wilfred Hughes in 30th with Ernesto Kelly one place behind. Finley Quinn (48th) and Daniel Tough (50th) ensured Croydon would have four finishers in the top 50 of the field. 

Another top ten team finish came courtesy of the Under 17 men who were spearheaded to ninth by Ewan Sone in 20th place. He was ably supported by further top fifty finishes from Tom Cadwallader (43rd) and Sean Leahy (49th) before Alex Martin completed the quartet. 

In the girls races, the best team performance of the day was found in the Under 13 Girls who finished tenth. Anna Jones finished eighth, the highest individual Croydon finish of the day, with Poppy Mack (38th), Malaika Trim (58th) and Sophie Crotty (61st) rounding the squad. 

The other Croydon teams placed in the top 20 with the Under 13 Boys 17th (first finisher – Leighton Dekas 23rd), Under 15 Girls 17th (first finisher – Isabelle Crotty 33rd) and Under 17 Women 19th (Matilda Welsh – 50th).
