A tribute to Brian Cook
Written by Mike Fleet
I am so sad to have write about Brian who was a stalwart member of the Croydon Harriers family.
Brian succumbed to the Coronavirus at the beginning of the month, with the sole blessing being that he only suffered for a few days. The most poignant fact is that it was the only illness he ever had.
Brian never competed for the club, but he and Sheila did not just bring their daughters Nicola, Suzy and Lucy to the Arena and leave them. They became highly valued and devoted supporters
Brian unobtrusively “King” of the clubhouse, maintaining the technical bits, and ensuring that everything was clean and tidy after each opening.
Good cheer and industry seemed to be his motto over the years that the Cook girls shone on club colours.
He will be remembered as a key figure in the club’s history, especially in our greatly limited 100th anniversary year and beyond.
Our sympathy to Team Cook, one of the very best
