A tribute to Angela Ennis
All of us at Croydon Harriers are deeply saddened by the passing of Angela Ennis, one of our most dedicated young athlete parent volunteers and supporters in recent years.
Since Jack, one of the club’s most talented high jumpers in our history, joined us in 2013, Angela has been with both Jack and the club every step of the way. No matter what job we needed help with, Angela was always on hand getting involved to make things happen.
Angela’s volunteering journey began when Jack first joined the Under 10s setup, the Croydon Athletics Academy. Coach Jim, who ran the Academy at the time Jack joined, appreciated Angela’s help and guidance in what were the formative stages of the Academy’s life.
When Jack joined the young athletes on Tuesday and Thursday sessions Angela would carry out just about every role available to a parent volunteer. This included:
- Team managing the Ebbisham Boys League team
- Assisting the field event officiating teams at track and field fixtures
- Taking photos and videos at fixtures for the website and social media
- Chasing membership payments
- Leading on the refreshments hut fundraising for the club
Angela would continue to support us even when Jack graduated from the young athletes ranks into the seniors and was helping as recently as last summer.
We would be totally lost as a club without the support of amazing people like Angela. We are so grateful for all her efforts and feel very fortunate to have known her. We extend our deepest sympathies to Paul, Jack and Jessica during this difficult time.
