Over 30 medals at the Surrey Championships
Croydon Harriers enjoyed an incredible haul of 14 gold medals at the Surrey Championships at Kingston last weekend.
There was triple joy for Guyana junior international Ethan Cort who would take the spoils in the Under 20 men’s shot putt, discus and javelin. Nearly matching that feat was Atarah Watson, who claimed the top prize in the Under 16 girl’s shot putt and discus, while Daniella Josephs triumphed in the Under 14 girl’s high and long jump competitions.
The sprint events proved another happy hunting ground for Croydon athletes with GB junior international Farrell Fabusiwa winning the Under 18 men’s 100m event, while training partner Shivelle Marshall matched that achievement in the Under 18 women’s equivalent. In the 200m events, Monaé Saffron Winston-Westfield topped the standings in the women’s event and GB junior international Tyvon Innis would enjoy similar success in the men’s event.
Elsewhere Klaysen Kafuti would prevail in the men’s 400m and on the field Evelyn Bosoko won the Under 20 women’s hammer, while Kezia Wheeler won the Under 16 girl’s javelin.
