21 medals at the Surrey Indoors for Croydon athletes!
Over fifty Croydon Harriers took part in the Surrey Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend at the David Weir Leisure Centre, bringing home 21 medals, including eight golds.
There was a clean sweep in the women’s 60m with two-time national medallist Cheyanne Evans-Gray winning gold in 7.40s, ahead of her teammates Zoe Dake and a returning Naomi Owolabi.
There was double gold for Guyana junior international Ethan Cort in the Under 20 men’s shot putt and sprint hurdles, while Jahmal Mceachrane took the Under 16 boys 60m title in 7.19secs.
The sprint hurdles provided another happy hunting ground for Croydon athletes, with Aaron Amponsah (Under 14 Boys) and Micah St James (Under 16 Boys) both securing gold. On the field, Atarah Watson triumphed in the Under 16 Girls Shot Putt, while Great Britain Masters international Paul Ogun won gold in the men’s long jump.
