Road races galore for Croydon squad – 7-8th March ’26
London Marathon bound Croydon Harrier Ben Chapman would finish the Cambridge Half Marathon in 71 minutes and 28 seconds on Sunday. He would finish 57th in a field of over 14,000 finishers. Zoha Jetha was third in the U19 category in 90:05.
At the Eastbourne Half Marathon Dave Brown would cross the line in 11th place in 78:31, while Kartik Iyer made a welcome return to the fold in 99th in 93:26, out of 1170 finishers.
Thomas McQuade finished the Paddock Wood Half Marathon in 92:07 for 615th, while Anoushka Evans clocked 1:48 for a new lifetime best.
Six Croydon athletes completed the Kingston 20-mile road race, with Ashley George finishing 38th in the 639-strong field. He was well supported by Terry Lapins (205th), Michaela Toumi (12th SW), Murray Gordon (35th M45), Tina Saunders (12th W35) and Sunanda Sarker-Bell (7th W60).
Nearly forty Croydon Harriers took part in parkruns with Caroline Kennefick securing the club’s highest individual finish placing runner-up at Banstead Woods. Elsewhere Alexa Gill was 7th at Richmond, Ernesto Kelly 9h at Dulwich and Sean Leahy was 18th out of over 1000 finishers at Battersea.
