Surrey XC Champs 2026 Report

Nearly thirty Croydon Harriers took on the best in the County at the Surrey cross-country championships at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking on Sunday. 

Sean Leahy would secure the club’s highest finish on a bitterly cold afternoon, finishing in 11th in the Under 17 men’s race, with teammate Ernesto Kelly 24th. 

The Under 13 boys team would finish ninth in the team standings, led home by Cian O’Doherty (33rd) and supported by Luka Scott-Kurti (55th), Ivan Thellusson (65th) and Lenard Stoyanov (73rd). 

Leading Croydon finishers across the other young athlete age groups were Jasmine Bell (Under 20 Women, 18th), Malaika Trim (U13 Girls, 26th), Caroline Kennefick (Under 17 Women, 27th) and Saria Scott-Kurti (Under 15 Girls, 57th).

In the women’s race, Madeleine Armstrong-Plieth enjoyed her highest finish in this race in four years crossing the line in 30th position. She was ably supported by Leanne Moore (53rd), Miriam De Souza (99th) and Katie Powell (103rd), with the squad placing 10th in the team standings, six places higher than twelve months ago. 

Douglas Aikman led the men’s charge finishing in 33rd in his senior debut. Tom Baxter (60th), David Brown (99th), Freddie Harding (127th), Scott Miller (135th) and Harry Speedy (142nd) completed the scoring team, with the squad finishing 13th overall.
