23 medals at the Surrey Indoors

Croydon Harriers’ squad brought home 22 medals at the Surrey Indoor Championships at Sutton Arena.

Paul Ogun triumphed in the men’s long jump with a 7.10m effort, while fellow field eventer Breanna White led a Croydon one-two in the Under 15 girls shot putt with Sheresse Miller runner-up.

There were three victories in the 60m for Croydon athletes. Gracelyn Kendeck bagged the Under 13 girls title just ahead of training partner Gabriella Tcheukam. In the Under 20 men’s age group, Sean Edwards crossed the line first, pipping colleague Tyvon Inniss. Ella Pippim crossed the line first in under 20 women’s event.

A further two runner-up finishes in the 60m with Ninsola Adewale (Under 17 women) and Jayden Atta Fynn (Under 13 boys) striking silver. There were a further three silver medals for Croydon high jumpers thanks to Klayson Kafuti (Under 15 boys), Sasha Howard (Under 17 women) and Ovie Whiskey (Under 17 men). Two Croydon sprint hurdlers also got among the medals with Henry Thomas (Under 15 boys) and Chrissy Afriye Amponsah (Under 17 women) earning silver medals. Long jumper Jessica Duggan leapt to a new lifetime best of 4.79m in the Under 15 girls age group.
