The thirteenth inter-club ‘mob match’ between Croydon Harriers and Striders of Croydon took place on Saturday morning, in conjunction with the Lloyd parkrun. The first man home was Harriers’ teenager Sean Leahy, who completed the undulating five-kilometre course in 17:23. Simone Luciani of Striders was first in the M40 age-group and fourth overall out of the 295 finishers (19:21). He was four seconds ahead of Ernesto Kelly of Harriers, who placed fifth. Ashley George of Harriers was seventh (19:34), one place ahead of club colleague Pietro Kelly, who was the first under-15 to finish (19:58). Steve Corfield of Striders recorded the same time, placing first in the M60 age-group and ninth overall, achieving the day’s
highest age-grading of 83.22%. Marcos Palomares-Conde of Harriers was tenth (20:25), one place ahead of club colleague Mike Smalley (20:27). Graham Hansen of Striders placed first in the M65 age-group and 32nd overall (22:33).

Harriers had six runners finishing in under 21 minutes, whereas Striders had four. However, Striders had a further twelve runners finishing between 21 and 24 minutes, while Harriers had five. In total, Striders had 61 finishers, while Harriers had 34.

The first female finisher was Consuelo Kennefick of Striders who placed 48th overall (23:20). Her club colleague Cindy Siu was the fifth female finisher, placing 88th overall (25:53). Harriers’ first female finisher was Alexa Gill, who was the first under-15 girl to finish, placing 91st overall (26:21). Liane Evans of Harriers was the ninth female finisher, placing 102nd overall (26:51). Andy Elliott of Striders placed first in the M75 age-group and 231st overall (37:33). Sandra Francis of Striders was first in the W65 age-group, placing 264th overall (44:05).

Under the ‘Thornbury’ method, whereby all 95 of the clubs’ finishers score, Striders won by 2707 points to 1853. Under the ‘equal numbers’ method, scoring 34-a-side, Striders won by 1303 to 1043. Under the ‘Thornbury’ method, Striders now lead the series by ten wins to three; under the ‘equal numbers’ method, they lead by nine wins to four.
