2023 Mini Marathon Borough Report

23 Apr 2023

Thirty four young athletes from Croydon and South London Harriers, as well as local Croydon schoolchildren, took on the UK’s best athletes in the TCS London Mini Marathon Championships on Saturday.

The combined squad represented the Borough against 32 other Boroughs across the capital as well as invited teams from all over the UK. They competed over the final 2.6km of the marathon course.

The Under 17 Men’s team would finish third overall thanks to a silver medal winning performance from South London’s Conrad Norman. It would be the Borough’s highest team finish of the day. He was backed up by excellent packing from Croydon’s Kyron-Bailee Burke (29th), Ben Whyatt (Caterham, 30th) and Max Lorke (Riddlesdown, 32nd).

Their female compatriots in the same age group, secured sixth place overall led home by SLH’s Annice Kemp in fourth, supported by Croydon’s Zoha Jetha in 13th, with the scoring quartet completed by Emily King (42nd) and  Millicent Figueria (65th).

Some further strong packing would ensure the Under 13 Boys squad would place 8th, spearheaded by SLH’s Fynn Jenkin (14th). The team was completed by Wilfred Hughes (16th), Croydon’s Ernesto Kelly (26th) and Thomas More’s Oliver Smith (98th).

The Under 15 Girls would secure the Borough’s next best finish in 11th, with SLH’s Maya Rungusumy just missing out on the podium in fourth place. Croydon’s Holly Smith (29th) was next home, followed by Samantha Moon (84th) and Casey Damo (89th).

The Under 13 Girls team finished 14th, led home by Croydon’s Aida Palomares-Dominguez (25th), while the Under 15 Boys team would  finish 16th with Shaftsbury Barnet’s Tom Cadwallader in 22nd.
